1980s
The Liverpool Street Band
was made up of 20+ amateur & semi pro musicians were having a lot of fun playing weddings, parties and festivals in the North West
Inspired by the likes of Abdullah Ibrahim, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Lester Bowie et al some of those musicians formed The Brasshoppers in 1988.

 

1988 - 90
Brasshoppers
establish themselves on the UK street festival scene
After two years of playing festivals and busking around the U.K. the

 

1990
USA
. band performs at The Houston International Festival and The French Quarter Festival in New Orleans jamming alongside members of The Dirty Dozen and Rebirth brass bands in clubs such as the legendary Glasshouse.

 

1991 - 94
1991 First cassette album Hopping Mad
released 1992
6 week festival tour of Canada
Featured live on BBC's Blue Peter
1994 second cassette album Jungle Funk released.
Personnel changes bring in superb saxophonist Dave Edge and trumpeter and all round personality Tony Peers

   

1995 - 96
Perform at Brecon, Glasgow and Edinburgh Jazz Festivals
Break into French festival scene with appearances at Valence 'les Soirs d'Ete', Douarnanez 'les Arrivees d'Airs Chauds' and other festivals
1996: CD Va Va Voom released by 33 Records

 

1997 - 99
Richard Fox (tuba), John Barber (trombone), Brian Hargreaves (drums) & Charle Ashby (perc) join band
1999 Live! CD released by 33 records

 

2000 - 02
2000: SHM CD released
Scandinavia beckons with tours in Norway, Sweden and Denmark
