Trees and Flowers Book List

Gillian Clarke (1985) Selected Poems. Carcanet. (newer edition available.)
Gillian Clarke (1998) Five Fields. Carcanet.
One of our best Nature poets, accessible, memorable.

Louise Glück (1992) The Wild Iris. Carcanet. A modern American poet at the end of the Twentieth Century returns to the language of flowers. A fascinating book.

Ted Hughes (1976) Season Songs. Faber & Faber. Something of a classic. Ostensibly ‘for children’ this book contains some of Hughes’ best work.

Paul Muldoon (1996) New Selected Poems 1968-1994. Faber and Faber. A spiky and thought-provoking Irish poet. Well worth the effort!

Les Murray (2001) Learning Human. Carcanet. A selection of Les Murray’s best work with some new poems.

Mary Oliver 1992) New and Selected Poems. Beacon Press, Boston. Something of a new discovery in England, although well known in America. Mary Oliver writes very powerful and accessible poetry which is quite unlike anybody else’s. She has some deeply moving things to say. Available from Borders (Ellesmere Port) or on the Internet from Amazon.
