A little about ballooning

Floating through the sky
A hot air balloon flight is an exhilarating experience that you will never forget. To float gently above the tops of trees then higher to get a bird's eye view over the patchwork field of the Cornish countryside, will leave you with lasting memories.

Despite being high in the air you will be surprised how secure you feel and a fear of heights often disappears. This is yet another wonder of ballooning. Ballooning is ideal for photography and well worth capturing the occasion on film.

When do we fly?

A unique and exhilarating experience
We fly all year round, but because ballooning is always governed by the weather, most flights take place between April and October when the weather is better. The time of day is often early morning and evening when weather conditions are at their best for ballooning.

The type of conditions needed for ballooning are a light breeze, no rain and good visibility.

Is there an age limit?

There is no statutory upper or lower age limit for ballooning, but as an outdoor sport a reasonable degree of mobility is needed in order to climb in and out of the basket, stand for about an hour and help with the preparations before flight and deflation afterward.

Children should be tall enough to see over the edge of the basket which is 4 feet high and be accompanied by an adult if they are under 12 years.

Is it safe?

Sky Qwest Balloons operates to the high standards of the Civil Aviation Authority and has been granted an air operator certificate for Hot Air Balloons. Our passenger balloons are of the latest designs with modern baskets for passenger comfort and safety and are all maintained to the high standards of the Civil Aviation Authority.
