R.Y. VICTORIA & ALBERT.

1897 Steam Powered Royal Yacht.

The third ship of her name she was launched in 1897, Queen Victoria's jubilee year, usually refered to as the "V & A" she has the slim graceful lines of a late 19th century ship, however she did not like rough weather and the hull shape had to be modified, amongst the alterations was the removal of her short foredeck, stepping of the main & mizzen mast further aft, plus the provision of some tons of ballast.

She survived both WWI & WWII when she was used as a accomodation ship, being finally disposed of for scrap in 1954.

The full-size plan shows her `as-built' and she makes up into a elegant and graceful model, especially when the modeller has some previouse experience, ideal for R/C. and electric drive.
