R.N.L.I. 47ft. TYNE LIFEBOAT.

Slipway Launched Tyne Class Lifeboat.

The "TYNE" class lifeboat is a fast slipway launched boat specifically designed to be housed in existing lifeboat houses and to meet modern demands, the design being fully self righting by the buoyancy of the superstructure. Power is provided by two 425bhp. engines. Twin screws and spade rudders are housed in tunnels with slipway bilge rails. Maximum speed is 18knots. This model does not come with plans but most of the work has been done as the glassfibre hull has a glassfibre deck already bonded to it. The hull has the triangular spray rails moulded in as well as a 1/4" high upstand for the bilge rails. Also moulded into the hull is the trim plate recess at the transom and also a notch for fitting a fully functional haul-up shoe. The deck has engine access plates, fore cabin hatch and cabin coamings all moulded in.

The hull and deck mouldings make for a very stable, seaworthy and realistic model on the water. The best plan to use for making the model is the DAVID METCALF plan produced for the model boat magazine, this is at half the size of our model.
