S.S. EARL SIGURD.
Single Screw Steam Orkney Islands Ferry.
The "EARL SIGURD" was built in 1931 by Hall, Russell & Co., for the Orkney Steam Navigation Co. She had the distinction of being the last of the steam powered vessels to serve the Northern Isles, she gave continuous service for nearly thirty years until finally being sent to the breakers P & W McLennan at Bowness.
Our full-size drawings show her as she was after her 1950 refit when she had a new wheelhouse fitted one deck higher.
The model scale of 1:48 means that many commercial fittings can be bought for her, although one of our smaller hulls she still makes up into s stable and attractive on the water model, ideal for the installation of R/C and electric power a small steam plant could also be fitted.
