S.S. SHENGKING. .

Passenger Cargo liner.

Our hull of the "S.S. SHENGKING" is for the modeller who loves the beautiful lines of the older vessel, or the modeller who likes to build smaller models. Whatever the reason, "S.S. SHENGKING" makes a most attractive and unusual model on the water. The original ship was built in 1931 by the Scott Shipbuilding & Eng.,Co. of Greenock for the China Navigation Co Ltd. With steam turbines of 3,600hp. for a cruising speed og 16knots she was capable of much higher speeds, and is reputed to have out run her escorts when doing duty in the Indian ocean as an RAF auxilliary during WWII. Built with a specially strengthened ice breaker bow for service on the rivers of China she was finally scrapped in 1962.

Our lovely hull features port holes, anchor hawse holes, hull cut-outs, trim lines and full water line moulded in. Plans are by Jim Pottinger and come from Nexus, the plans allow for a super detailled model to be built, ideal for R/C. and single electric motor the model looks really good on the water, the superstructure can be made in one piece to lift off and give excellent access to the interior, a model better suited to builders with some previous experience.
