Royal Malaysian Marine Police "PX" Boat.

The 18No. vessels of the "PX" class were built for the Royal Malaysian Police by Vosper Shipyards of Singapore between 1963 & 1970, they were built to undertake general policing duties within territorial waters. Powered by twin 2,700hp. Mercedes-Benze diesels these elegant craft had a cruising speed of 15knots and a top speed of 29knots, their crew consisted of 15 officers and men, twin 20mm. OTO-Melara cannons being their armament.

They were primarily designed to operate from local ports and not from one large base, crews are recruited locally and equipment designed to be maintained by crew mechanic, fuel could be taken from quay-side tankers or lighter, provisions and stores from local chandlers/suppliers, in essence a fairly simple technology vessel manned by crews with local knowledge.

Our Hull Package includes all names and prefixes so that any one of the 18No. boats may be built by the modeller.

HULL & MATERIALS PACKAGE.

This is another new type of package for the modeller and the Pack features the following:-

A really well moulded and accurate GRP hull, finished in white.

A pair of propeller shafts and tubes.

A materials pack of white matt/matt H.I.P.S. (high impact polystyrene sheet) in 2mm, 1.5mm, 1mm & 0.75mm, all sheet nominal size of 660 x 274. plus a half sheet of 1mm clear (with protective film each side) all this material being quickly and easily glued with ordinary styrene adhesive.

6mm x 3mm x 660mm. strip styrene for fixing the decking to the GRP hull and for corner re-inforcements.

Enough 6mm half-round "D" section black rubber to go around the top of the hull as fendering.

The drawings pack consist of a full-size large single sheet re-mastered general arrangement plan this shows the position of the deck beams and other details.

A new large drawing with full-size drawings of all deck beams, deck pieces, superstructure, vents, flying bridge and locker parts, these shapes can all be transferred straight to the styrene sheet, parts can then be cut out and glued together, this highly accurate drawing will greatly help construction.

A newly written and individual 'Sangsetia' construction manual saying how to put the parts together. We also include a copy of our own unique 'Construction Booklet' (this is full of useful hints and tips and illustrations on how to put together and finish one of our GRP Hull packages) make the construction of the model fairly simple, straightforward and quick, a perfect subject For beginner or expert alike.

All drawings and booklets have been prepared by David Metcalf and Are clear, straightforward and simple to follow, they will make Construction quicker and simpler than normal.

The above package allows for a really detailed model to be made relatively quickly, at 1:24 scale many commercial fittings are readily available, fitted with twin '545' or '540' motors her performance on the water is excellent, making her ideal for regatta work or just cruising the lake. She is not a difficult model to make and well worth the effort.
