MIRANDA GUINESS.
Bulk Single Screw Beer Tanker
The "MIRANDA GUINESS" was the last vessel built by Hills but the worlds first specially commisioned beer tanker making her maiden voyage in 1977. Powered by two British `Polar' diesels with a combined power output of 4,620bhp. through a variable pitch propeller giving a speed of 15knots. Her 15 stainless steel tanks held a total of 1,850,000 pints!, she continued to sail from `Guiness's' Dublin brewery to Runcorn until April1993 when last orders were called on this method of transporting beer, she was brocken up at F.Evans & Sons, Garston in November 1993.
This well moulded hull is the ideal size for a working merchantman model, with R/C and electric power driving through the prop with a working `Kortz' nozzle, couple this to a working bow thruster and she will be a highly manouvreable model boat ideal for regatta work, our plan allows for a good scale model to be built by even in-experienced builders, ballast would be easy, just use cans of Guiness!
