This is another full model boat kit from our company, we have spent many careful hours in developing this attractive model into a superb scale subject that we feel is suitable for beginner or expert alike. The 'Lady Laura' (now "FORTH CHALLENGER") & 'Lady Marina' were built in 1968 for Humber Tugs by Richard Dunstons of Hessle. These two powerful tugs were primarily designed to work on the river Humber and its estuary, they had of course excellent sea-keeping abilities as well. Our model kit has been produced from the builders drawings and some contemporary photo's. Lady Marina was sold to Portugal in 1987. During their working lives the vessels carried several colour scheme, our kit is based on the 1992 colours of 'Lady Laura'. Previously manufactured as a GRP kit by 'Boats & Models' of Norwich (a company now owned by Metcalf Mouldings) our kit only utilises the original hull from this time, our model kit being a fully developed comprehensive new product.

This comprehensive kit contains the following parts:

White, one piece GRP Hull moulded to tops of bulwarks.

2 x 'M4' Propeller shafts & tubes, rudders & propellers.

Printed 0.5mm, 1.0mm, 1.5mm Styrene sheets for Deck beams, Decks, Superstructure, bridge interior, window frames, hatches etc.,

Over 350 accurately cast white metal fittings.

All required brass rod, wire, tube, nuts & bolts etc.

Dowel for samson posts, strip wood etc.

Vac-formings for funnel/mast assembly.

Laser cut self adhesive lettering for name & port of registration.

2 x Full-size keyed and numbered comprehensive general arrangement drawings to scale.

A comprehensive, easy to follow, illustrated construction manual.

A full Humbrol numbered colour scheme.

Manual & Drawings by David Metcalf.

The model was reviewed by Terry Small in the 'Marine Modelling International' magazine in December 2005 & January 2006.

The model was reviewed in 'Model Boats' magazine in September 2005 by Dave Abbott.

All the above makes for a complete scale kit to make the model to museum standards.

My prototype model was fitted with twin '545' type motors, this when fitted with individual electronic speed controllers makes the on the water performance very realistic. Ideal for just pottering about on the lake or model regatta work. Not to heavy for the smaller car.
