HMS KINGFISHER.
Royal Navy Bird Class Patrol Boat.
One of the `Bird' class vessels "HMS KINGFISHER" was designed as a large patrol craft and built by Richard Dunston Ltd and commissioned in 1975, used first extensively for oil rig and fisheries protection. Powered by Paxman diesels giving 4,200bhp. and with a top speed of 21knots these were useful little ships. Lightly armed with 40mm. Bofors and carrying twin `Gemini' inflatables.
Our nicely moulded hull comes with a full-size plan from which a nice looking model can be built, with twin `545' motors and R/C. she is a handy regatta boat, with the largeish hull she has also enough room to take a fairly largeish battery thus giving her good endurance time.
