'HMS Bulldog' and her sister ships HMS.Beagle, HMS.FOX and HMS.FAWN are the four vessels of this class, built by Brooke Marine Ltd in 1968 for the Hydrographers of the Navy for coastal survey work anywhere in the world.Powered by 4 x Lister Blackstone ER58M 8cylinder 4 stroke diesel engines coupled to twin shafts they had a top speed of 15knots. Passive tank stabilisers were fitted to aid in their work.
This is s very different Naval Subject, with its derricks, winches & survey boats it gives the model a very different appearance from other RN. ships, her white hull and buff funnel make for a very attractive model on the water.
HULL & MATERIALS PACKAGE.
This was the first of a new type of package for the modeler and comes as follows:-
Our beautiful GRP hull is well moulded, complete with bow and stern knuckles sharply moulded in, bulwark insides laid-up with fine matt where visible to facilitate easy finishing.
Now with a new, full-size two sheet, super detailled plan set drawn by DAVID METCALF from the original builders plans. These allow for a really detailed scale model to be made.
The material package consisting of ample 2mm, 1.5mm, 1mm, 0.75mm white and 1mm clear flat High Impact polystyrene sheets (size: 686mm x 265mm) to make the deck beams, decks, hatch coamings, lockers, bulwark supports & capping rails, main superstructure, wheelhouse, bridge wings, doors and main mast.
A set of colour photo's off the full-size vessel when in Royal Navy service.
Our own unique "Construction Booklet" (fully detailed and illustrated), this clearly and simply explains how to use our GRP. hull and materials pack to make a model boat.
The above package allows for a really detailed model to be made, at 1:48 scale many commercial fittings are now available, fitted with R/C. and twin '545' motors her performance on the water is excellent, making her ideal for regatta work, this is not adifficult model to make and well worth the effort. Our prototype model was constructed by the late Frank Cheetham and is a fine example of what a skilled modeller can do with one of our GRP Hulls, although Frank has now very sadly passed away our prototype will always stand as a testament to his skill, we will also always remember a dear and true friend.
