Motor Trawler "EDWINA"

Model Scale = 1:50.

Length = 36". Beam = 6.3/4". Displacement = 13lbs.

This hull & materials pack is for the late 50’s early 60’s side winder "EDWINA" typical of the last types of middle distance side trawlers built for use around the Faroes and Shetland islands.

Although our Hull & Materials pack is for the "EDWINA" it can just as well be used for either of her sister ships the "LUCIDA" or "JOSINA". With their Buff hulls, red oxide superstructures, white bow, stern and bridge, and red funnel, they make up into a colourful and handy sized model ideal for regatta work using a ‘545’ type motor and simple two channel radio.

HULL.

Our beautifully moulded white one piece GRP hull is moulded to top of bulwark level, it has the side rubbing strips and trawl board protection strips all moulded on, very little work is required to get the hull ready for work.

MATERIALS PACK.

This pack contains ample 1.5mm, 1mm, 0.75mm & 1mm (Clear) styrene sheet to make all deck beams, decks and superstructure parts to complete the model, also included is enough 6mm x 3mm styrene strip to go all round the hull at double thickness to glue the deck down to, plus all the dowel for the masts and spars.

We also include the prop shaft and tube, propeller, rudder and skeg are all in cast white metal.

DRAWINGS.

This is a newly drawn single sheet plan (drawn by David Metcalf) showing the elevations and deck plans, all are drawn out full size to suit the hull, NO construction detail is shown as such, however this plan used in conjunction with our "CONSTRUCTION MANUAL" will allow for a nicely detailed model to be constructed by even the beginner to our hobby.

CONSTRUCTION MANUAL.

Included in the pack is our unique "CONSTRUCTION MANUAL", this informative illustrated guide gives step-by-step instructions on how to fit out a typical GRP hull and is full of a wealth of useful hints and tips, as well as a list of other suppliers and manufacturers
