HMS DUNBARTON CASTLE.

Royal Navy Offshore Patrol Vessel.

This superb model hull off the Royal Navy Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) "HMS DUNBARTON CASTLE" was the second vessel of the class launched, it is a larger version of our `HMS Leeds Castle' the highly detailed, easy to read plans supplied with each hull are of "HMS DUNBARTON CASTLE", but her sister ship `HMS Leeds Castle' (P-258) can also be built from them.

This hull is the largest we do in our range and it truly a magnificent moulding that features side wash ports, anchor recesses and panama ports all moulded in. With her very stable round bilge hull, with fine bow entry and good flare forward she is perfect for multi-channel R/C, her huge hull is large enough to take many working features such as lights, horn, engine sound, working anchor, turning radar scanners etc. This is a large hull that can easily take large batteries and operate in the most rough weather conditions, as with all large models she looks magnificent on the water and is a real crowd puller, her large scale makes the purchase of commercial fittings readily available, can be built be beginner or expert alike.

Bury Metro Marine Modelling Society together with ABCO (UK) built up two of these models for the first ever 24hr. world record endurance event at Stevenage in June 1987, and after surviving incredible weather conditions both completed the full 24hrs. "HMS Leeds Castle" covering 59.42miles (Class C.) and "HMS DUNBARTON CASTLE" covering 56.96miles (Class A). In October 1987 BOTH MODELS WERE AWARDED WORLD RECORDS IN THEIR RESPECTIVE CLASSES.

Both models were powered by Ford 12v. `Cortina' heater blower motors running on 12v.26amp.hr. sealed gel batteries, both were fitted with working navigation light, interior light and flood alarms. Why don't you build yourself a world beater, big, beautiful and very, very seaworthy
